Why you chose BHC (beyond the scholarship benefit)
Two large factors in me choosing BHC were the study away opportunities and the townhouses. I also just loved the people that I met at the competition, and it really made me want to be a part of the close-knit community we have here.

What benefits have you gained from the BHC
I’ve become a much better communicator and a more critical thinker.

Highlight a specific research, internship, or study abroad experience(s).
Over the summer I interned at Hermitage Museum and Gardens, where I assisted the gardens curator in tending to the gardens. Hermitage has 12 acres of gardens, including wetland gardens, a rose garden, a sunken garden, and several others. I really enjoyed learning about the plants, and I made valuable connections during my time there.

How did the BHC curriculum or program prepare you for this experience?
The discussion-based classes I took as a BHC student really helped me to have thoughtful conversation during my interview. I think it also prepared me for collaborative work.

What do/did you hope to achieve/gain from this experience?
I had hoped to gain some clarity regarding what kind of work environment I would like to be in, as well as gaining some work experience.

Anything else you would like to share about your experiences with BHC
Batten Honors College is a really enriching experience as it has allowed me to grow both intellectually and mentally as a person. Above all, I think that the connections I’ve made here are what makes BHC so special to me.
